mcp announces strategic leadership appointments

Montana Capital Partners (mcp) is pleased to announce several strategic leadership appointments and simultaneously welcome Dan Klima, who joins mcp as Managing Partner and Head of North America, to the team. We congratulate Stephan Wessel and Christoph Jäckel on their appointments as CEO and CIO, respectively. Together, Stephan, Christoph, and Dan comprise our senior leadership group.

As CEO, Stephan will guide mcp’s overall strategic direction, emphasizing the firm’s growth and investment performance. Christoph, as CIO, will spearhead the development and execution of mcp’s data vision and strategy. In his role as Head of North America, Dan will lead the continued growth of mcp's platform from the firm's New York office.

Stephan joined mcp in 2022 with more than 20 years of M&A and private equity experience. He has since led several notable transactions across highly customized LP- and GP-led deals while making significant contributions to mcp’s organizational development, including deepening our collaboration with PGIM, scaling mcp's advisory business, and leading initiatives across talent, strategy, and IC processes. Prior to joining mcp, Stephan ran his own firm advising leading European investors and gained experience on numerous operating boards.

Christoph joined mcp in 2015 and has been instrumental in the design and development of our analytics platform, as well as helping build the firm's investment capabilities, culture, and brand. In addition to his 15+ years of financial and investment experience, Christoph holds a PhD in asset pricing and has published numerous papers and delivered lectures on topics such as risk and performance in private equity, the performance impact of credit lines, and private markets pricing.

Dan joins mcp from Lazard, where he was most recently a Managing Director within the company’s Private Capital Advisory group. Previously, he held senior roles at Lexington Partners and began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston. With a combined 20 years of investment and advisory experience, including 18 years in the secondary market, Dan brings extensive leadership and fundraising expertise to mcp.

With these strategic appointments, mcp is well positioned to achieve its long-term growth plans and capitalize on the opportunities in the private equity secondary market.
